Sandy Springs has a new neighborhood go-to that has a very catchy name. This restaurant is Bogartz Food Artz. Its creative name is reflective of the eclectic southern cuisine coming out of Chef Bruce Bogartz’s kitchen. The food is a mash-up of the south’s best flavors that are so unique, most menu items cannot be found in another restaurant, only Bogartz. One of the signature dishes that can be credited to Chef Bruce is the Smoked Trout Tater Tots. He smokes the trout in-house, then combines the flaked fish with shredded potatoes (grated in-house), corn, tomatoes and rosemary, then tops with horseradish sauce and pepper jelly. This is a dish that exudes southern decadence. The golden brown dollops on each plate look similar to a hushpuppy (pictured below), but there is no mistaking this concoction for the “ultimate” tater tot."Screen

Another compilation we didn’t know we needed: Chef Bruce’s Pineapple Upside Down Bread Pudding. If you guessed that this is the mash-up of Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Bread Pudding- you guessed right! Fresh Challah bread is soaked in a spiced Pineapple rum custard mixture, Pineapple and Maraschino cherries are mixed in, baked and topped with caramel and whipped cream. This dessert is rich yet balanced- it’s love at first bite. More must-try dishes from Bogartz? The Goat Cheese Beignets, Salmon Caesar Salad, Gumbo and Brisket are some of our faves. Check out the full menu here."Screen

Chef Bruce will be serving tastes of these indulgent dishes next Saturday night (June 8th) at Food That Rocks! Bogartz Food Artz will be competing for the title of “Best Taste” against 25+ Sandy Springs restaurants. Food That Rocks attendees get unlimited food, beer, wine and cocktail tastes with their ticket as well as tokens to vote on their favorite dish! Food That Rocks sold out in 2018, so get your tickets early! Learn more and buy your tickets on FoodThatRocks.org! Want to learn more about Chef Bruce and Bogartz Food Artz? District M prides itself on sushi, but there is more to the restaurant’s menu than one would expect. The rolls and dishes Chef Jackie Chang creates are far from standard- all of the ingredients are top quality and the flavor combinations are out-of-bounds. District M opened in Sandy Springs just a few short weeks ago, but the restaurant is already making its mark on the city’s culinary scene. The restaurant is located on Roswell Road, right next door to another Sandy Springs newbie and culinary force, Casi Cielo.

District M is elegant and the decor allows for high ceilings, expansive bars and an outdoor patio. The bar program is also blossoming at this new spot- with rotating specialty cocktails and all drinking accouterments created in-house (i.e. simple syrups & purees). District M will be “rolling out” at Food That Rocks in just a few short weeks (Saturday, June 8; tickets available at FoodThatRocks.org)! Chef Jackie will be serving a fan favorite- Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna- for attendees to get a “taste” of District M. Before tasting these signature bites, we took a look at some of the beautifully composed plates and drinks at District M- scroll below to find your perfect order!

Besides the anticipation of incredible food and drinks, there’s a great story behind the inspiration of The Select’s name and decor. Learn more about this spot before it opens in City Springs- watch our Facebook Live with Taste of Atlanta Marketing and Media Manager, Skye Estroff, and Managing Partner of The Select, David Green. Then, buy your tickets to Food That Rocks (Saturday, June 8th) to taste The Select’s food before doors open. For more of The Select’s story, read below:

The Select, a 1920’s-inspired restaurant and bar that will deliver a taste of contemporary, light and bright fare in a timeless atmosphere, is set to open next month at City Springs, the multi-use project in the heart of downtown Sandy Springs. From Dave Green and David Lester, also behind Vinings’ restaurant Paces & Vine, the restaurant will feature light and bright dishes, blurring the lines across the cuisines of the Mediterranean and America. With a focus on dishes inspired by the olive oil regions of Europe, the restaurant will offer shared plates, elegant yet approachable entrees and a late night menu.

The Select pays homage to Paris’ famed Le Select brasserie—the notable all-day gathering spot for artists and literary giants including Picasso, Hemingway and Fitzgerald. Drawing inspiration from the Parisian restaurant, The Select will serve as a definitive neighborhood destination, inviting guests from all walks of life to share honest food, standout spirits and friendly conversation in a welcoming and relaxed setting.

Executive Chef Matt Rainey will oversee the kitchen. A Georgia native, Rainey most recently served as Executive Chef at both Rococo Steak and Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant in Tampa, Florida, and worked at award-winning restaurants in D.C., Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa, before returning to his home state. Mentored early on by famed restaurateur and Buckhead legend Pano Karatassos, Rainey is eager to bring his unique culinary concept to The Select. He is inspired by farm-to-table, locally-sourced Caledon cuisine marked by seasonality.

At The Select, he will serve daily dinner and late-night small plates that blur the lines of culinary traditions across Continental Europe and America. Upon opening, the restaurant will host live music nights (“The Select Nights”) beginning at the end of dinner hour into the late evening. Weekend brunch and lunch are to come.

Complementing its culinary counterpart, the beverage program will offer an extensive wine list, craft cocktails that rotate with the season and local beer on draft. Including around 60 bottles and more than 30 options of wine by the glass, the wine menu will feature selections originating from France, Italy, Australia and America. The Select will also offer an exciting range of the best local beers and delicious original craft cocktails served in gorgeous glassware.

The forthcoming restaurant will feature an open, airy space designed by Smith Hanes Studio. Upon entering, guests will be greeted by an inviting and warm interior mixing intimate seating with classic design elements. The Select will also include an expansive indoor/outdoor patio enclosed by glass with a terrace overlooking a view of City Springs’ park and fountains below. The dining room will seat 175 guests and will be available for private and semi-private events.
