With the help of volunteer culinary and nutrition experts, Cooking Matters course participants learn how to select nutritious and low-cost ingredients and prepare them in ways that provide the best nourishment possible to their families.
The Giving Kitchen
The Giving Kitchen(GK) is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance to restaurant workers through financial support and a network of community resources in order to create a restaurant community where crisis is met with compassion and care. Since its inception in 2013, GK has given over $1.8 million in crisis grants to over 1,100 restaurant workers throughout 47 Georgia counties. GK’s shift starts when theirs can’t. American Culinary Federation, Greater Atlanta Chapter
The American Culinary Federation, Inc. (ACF), a professional, organization for chefs and cooks, was founded in 1929 in New York city by three chefs’ organizations: the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique, the Vatel Club and the Chefs de Cuisine Association of America. Since our inception, little has changed in our principal goals. We are an organization based on promoting the professional image of American chefs worldwide through education of culinarians at all levels.
Hospitality Education Foundation of Georgia (HEFG)ProStart ®
HEFG coordinates the 3rd largest ProStart ® culinary program in the country with more than 85 participating high schools throughout Georgia. ProStart ® is a program created by the National Restaurant Association to teach high school students culinary skills and business management training. HEFG bridges the gap between high schools and the hospitality industry by providing teacher resources, scholarship opportunities, hospitality education and industry partnerships. Taste of Atlanta is proud to showcase this valuable program at this year's event.
Second Helpings Atlanta, Inc.
Second Helpings Atlanta (SHA) is a non-profit food rescue organization whose mission is to fight hunger and reduce food waste in metro Atlanta. SHA's team of 350+ Volunteer drivers rescues surplus food and delivers it to those in need in 90 minutes or less throughout the year. SHA serves as the link between their network of more than 60 Food Donors and their over 30 Partner Agencies that feed the hungry on a daily basis. Since their first food pick-up in 2004, SHA has collected and distributed over 5.4 million pounds of food, enough food to provide over 4.5 million meals.
Georgia Organics is a member supported, non-profit organization connecting organic food from Georgia farms to Georgia families with the belief that food should be community-based, not commodity-based. An outgrowth of a grower's association established in the 1970s, Georgia Organics is devoted to promoting sustainable foods and local farms in Georgia.
